A growing number of Britons are buying rundown properties in search of the idyllic country retreat, forcing first-time buyers out of the property market.
A few years ago, converting a derelict property was a way of getting a first step onto the property ladder. However, the demand for rural properties has meant that prices have been falsely increased. However, people are prepared to overpay for a building which may not necessarily be worth that much money.
The market for rundown country properties follows the overall trend of the UK housing market in general.
