A place in the country or by the seaside is becoming more and more popular for people according to many estate agents.

The latest up-and-coming seaside resort is Margate in Kent which is undergoing regeneration, the listed stone pier is to be transformed into an art-and-eating venue with painters’ workshops and hi-tech night lighting.

Furthermore, a high-speed rail link from London is due for completion in 2009, the route will take less than 2 hours. Margate is also attractive as house prices are still relatively low.

Margate is famous for its beaches, Joss Bay has spectacular rock formations. Palm Bay occasionally appeals to surfers who are unable to get to Cornwall. Nearby are the olde worlde villages of Minster and Manston.

Margate’s blossoming arts scene, with Tracey Emin as mascot, is headed for success. The Turner Contemporary, Kent’s first major art gallery, is due to open in 2010.

Margate was once renowned for retired couples and teenagers, but not anymore. A successful old-town regeneration scheme means Margate is now appealing to all ages. Boutiques, galleries and a top jazz café are opening soon.
