Cornish Homes (UK) to be liquidated

The current financial crisis has caused the downfall of a Cornish-based property company. Cornish Homes (UK) Ltd of Truro is preparing to be placed into liquidation following financial difficulties, and insolvency accountants have been appointed.

Cornish Homes is run by Kevin Heaney, who is a well-known businessman in the Truro area and the owner of several companies.

Cornish Homes (UK) Ltd was involved in the selling and building of properties in Cornwall and elsewhere. Creditors will be advised of the company’s assets, liabilities and reasons for its liquidation at a meeting to be arranged on 10 October.

In addition to its house building activities, the company was actively engaged in sourcing development land throughout Cornwall.

It is understood that the company is just one company in the Cornish Homes group, and held no assets. None of the other companies in the group, and the other business interests of Kevin Heaney, will be affected.

Cornish Homes (UK) is the official sponsor of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League. The league will now seek a new official sponsor of its website and Fair Play scheme for the 2009/10 season. It is thought that Cornish Homes paid £2,000 a year for the league’s website and a similar sum for the Fair Play scheme, which rewards clubs for promoting sportsmanship.
